REQUIREMENTS: The contest is a gay event. Contestants must be: 1) male 2) a resident of the Florida Gulf Coast (unless otherwise approved) 3) at least 21 years of age 4) self-identified as gay
The Mr. Gulf Coast Florida Leather Contest is open to all gay leather men. While everyone is welcome to attend Leather Weekend events, contestants cannot be women or heterosexual men. Contestants must consent to fund raising on the Friday night during "Meat and Greet". The winner must help plan and participate in appropriate fund raisers during his title year.
FEE: There is a $25 non-refundable entry fee to enter the Mr. Gulf Coast Florida Leather Contest. This helps to cover expenses. Please make $25.00 check out to Mr. Gulf Coast Florida Leather Contest. Do NOT make the application fee check out to Lounge 7.14 or to Lincoln Calcavecchi. Mail check to the above address or turn in to Lounge 7.14 with application.
Due to limited space in the backstage dressing areas, you are not permitted to have an assistant or dresser for events, so plan accordingly. However, there will be a Den Daddy backstage and your fellow contestants to help you out. (This is consistent with IML contest procedures.) Only contestants will be permitted in the backstage area. You are REQUIRED to be on time for all scheduled events. Tardiness indicates a lack of commitment and dedication to the task and is unfair to others who are forced to wait. A contestant who continually disrupts preparations, or is persistently late for events, may be awarded penalty points and/or removed from the competition.
Special Note: Genitalia may not be exposed onstage, in public places, or in pre-judging interviews. Also for the Jock Strap Competition there must be a strap at least 1 inch wide covering the crack of the butt.
WINNER COMMITMENTS: The winner of the contest agrees to compete at IML 30 in 2008. Failure to compete will result in loss and forfeiture of the prize package and title patch. If the winner is unable to attend IML or fulfill his duties as Mr. Gulf Coast Florida Leather 2008, then the 1ST runner-up will be awarded the title. The winner will be required to help plan and participate in UP TO three fund raisers during his title year, personal life permitting, and participate in St. Pete Pride Parade. The winner will be required to participate during the next year’s contest and award the new title to his successor.

JUDGING OVERVIEW & PROCEDURES
Judges will score contestants in 3 categories:
Each judge will award each contestant a score, ranging from 0 to 10. Olympic-style Scoring will be used (High and Low scores are dropped, the remaining scores are averaged). Any penalty points will then be deducted and then THAT score will be “weighted” as listed below.
1. "MEAT AND GREET" - In Bar wear - Not Scored 2. INTERVIEW – 50% of Final Score 3. JOCK (PECS and Personality) – 20% of Final Score 4. LEATHER IMAGE (Formal Wear & Speech) – 30% of Final Score
NOTE: There is NO Fantasy category in the Mr. Gulf Coast Florida Leather Contest in order to conform to the International Mr. Leather format standard.
The Final, Weighted Scores for each category will be added together for the Final Score. In case of a tie, all 5 judges' scores will be used, category weight applied, and the contestant with the higher of 2 scores will be deemed the winner.
SCORING Judges will score each contestant in each category. To allow for a fair and balanced scoring, judges will submit their scores at the END of each category.
TABULATION To ensure timely and accurate tabulation of scores, scores for each contestant will be collected at the end of each category. The scores will be entered into a database spreadsheet, calculated based on the Olympic Scoring System, weighted and tabulated. Paper copies of each judges scoring will be available for manual tabulation (if needed) and for verification of totals.
